Our creative team provides a full-service offer, including all online technology, concept development and video production. Born from free and strategic minds, we deliver relevant and effective tools for telling unique stories. We explore the power of storytelling in new and exciting ways. We like to disrupt, to shift your perspective and to tell passioned, timeless and shareable stories. We create concepts born from our personal experience, our vision to create inspiring content, building cross media concepts and innovative media productions to make a difference in the world around us. DUTCH PICTURE INDUSTRY is an internationally awarded operating media production company founded in 2004 and established in Amsterdam. DUTCH PICTURE INDUSTRY focuses on the unique story behind human beings, their experiences and their spectacular surroundings. Founders Brechtje Smidt and Milan Collin are the key individuals on the team, each possessing up to ten years of experience in marketing, production, directing and filming abroad. Freelancers and interns, depending on the number and size of the projects, support the core team. Our productions are often based on adventure, environmental and social topics. For every project, we look at which media tools are most effective, from short promotional films, social videos, animation, video graphics, and 360 video. Alongside online content and branding campaigns, our productions have been broadcast on television in the Netherlands and, more than frequently, abroad. In our projects, durability and social involvement are our main concerns. This resulted in DUTCH PICTURE INDUSTRY winning the Entrepreneurs Prize of Durability of the city of Amsterdam in 2009. To shape our vision, we manage a ‘green policy’ and as such we combine our commercial talent with involvement in society and nature. In 2012 we won a second prize with the Green Filmmaking competition with our film ‘Balance’, that was also officially submitted for the Academy Awards 2013 in the category Best Live Action Short Film and won the award for Best Fiction Film at Barcelona International Film Festival 2012. ‘Balance’ was also awarded the prestigious Mario Bello prize in 2014. The film has been accepted for many international film festivals.

We are a company that not only has extensive experience in filming and production of material but also provides comprehensive solutions in the realm of virtual reality, 360 degrees video: from creating a concept and scenario, generating the visuals and productions, to post-production. In our portfolio there are several interesting projects that we had a chance to create. VR Explorers, as the first company in history, filmed 360° expeditions and obtained the highest mountain in the world - Mount Everest, from the north, Tibetan. Part of the material from this trip was used in one of the hit virtual reality games - Everest VR Other projects we are involved in are Clean2Antarctica - a technologically advanced expedition to the South Pole using only solar and wind energy. Part of the trip, which is recorded in the technique of 360°, is also a cruise on a sailing ship that transports people and equipment needed to get the pole. This type of content presentation, in particular educational, is much more effective when it comes to remembering information. The strong impressions that this technology provides, result in better memorisation. Staying in a virtual space also has a strong impact on emotions. VR is treated as an 'empathy machine' due to the fact that the viewer has a strong and almost real experience while residing in a recreated or created artificial reality based on the nature and facts. At the moment, it is the best way to 'teleport' the viewer to places he would not be able to reach, and at the same time one of the most interesting ways to educate through entertainment. This, in turn, stimulates curiosity, the desire for further development and translates into a much better awareness and understanding of given concepts or phenomena.
